This is a workout for our first official training day with our full time students.  Last week we evaluated each of our players and will now begin our base training program.  This introductory day includes transition ball handling and finishing with contact.  These two areas are both under practiced and misunderstood.  We require effort, energy and an open mind from our guards and posts.  Coaches analyze movement, ball skills and vertical extremity control.

Monday September 3rd

Things to look for:

Dribbling

Snap out of change of speed, power and angle, body control

Protecting the ball

Stability on deceleration

Hammer nails range of motion

Would that move push through contact from the defender?

Finishing

All shots overhand

Knee flex on landing, soft landing with good stability leads to control linking on finish

Ball as a counter weight

Full extension on shot (eyes of the hand to the rim)

Full extension of off arms

Competitive

Full Court 1 on 1 with countdown teaching points on every play
