Anderson Verajao: Get Real!!!!!
The Cavs, despite what people may argue, should get no more than 4 million/year for 3 years and here are the reasons why:
1.) His career stats per minute are comparable to Jelani McCoy and Chris Andersen
2.) Teams do not care what he does. Just don't let LeBron get 45 in the second half
3.) His agent leverages team to the hilt. In his eyes who else can they get this late. Even at 75% of what he wants he is over paid. The longer they wait the more likely the Cavs to pull the trigger on something way over market value. he got hot late and may never looks so important again.
4.) All the intangibles are great. Teams will now prepare for him and give up something else if he is really hurting them. Baseline drive Daniel Gibson. I take 10.
5.) Energy/role players/specialists never look as good as they did in their first uniform or when they were hot and get over paid when novelty wears off. Dennis Rodman, Chris Andersen, Manute Bol, Mark Eaton, most shooters who jump teams for the money
6.) Someone else who is empowered to fill that role will do so with ease and a learning curve. Joel Anthony, Amir Johnson, Jelani McCoy, Andreas Biedrans. Even Cedric Simmions may be able to block shot, slip screens and run the floor. He is only 21 and works. If brought along the correct way it could be Anderson who?
7.) The Cavs saw him everyday for the last three years, the majority of sports writers, fans and coaches only see him twice a week and only remember the highlights. There are lots of plays were he screws it up running around in circles, taking bad fouls, and leaving early for blocks and the teams makes the extra pass.
8.) Many have argued charges and steals statistics are important. How many pitch threes did his man get when the handler manuevered around him. How many times did he jump out early and get back doored for a dunk. I would also add that those stats are helped greatly by the shot altering of Big Z, Gooden and Lebron.
9.)Money grabs and leverage usually comes back to haunt you. Enron, Countrywide, Merryll Lynch when you know this most get why the getting's good.
He is probably are hard worker and a great team mate. He is a bad long term investment and this is a business.
